Lord of Life is committed to missions. They are an important part of God's plan. Everyone can be involved in missions. There's a misconception that missions are all overseas, or require a massive time commitment. Not true! There are local one day events that involve the whole family serving elderly in the inner city, or a day at the soup kitchen, working with moms at a pregnancy center, or setting up a Christmas Store for the poor. There are short term disaster relief efforts when our countrymen need help. And yes, there is a tremendous amount of need throughout the world. There are mission opportunities all around us.
Haiti Mission Trip 2009
On behalf of the Haiti Mission Trip Team; Lisa Hellyer, Jason Hughes, Chris Shepard, Paul Gangel, Dave Saving and Heather Kickhaefer, it was an awesome honor to represent the Lord of Life congregation to complete our three-year commitment to the community of Christ the King Lutheran Church and School in the village of Merotte.
Christ the King has a foundation and faith that is Christ-centered and spirit-filled and they know that Jesus is the answer. And they absolutely live this out – we saw it everywhere. They are committed to raising the next generation in the Christian faith and with a Christian education. They are visionary in their desire to reach the community and those lost to the world off voodoo. They want to be self-sustaining, knowing resources open many possibilities. What they have accomplished over the last few years is nothing less than a miracle. God is working in amazing ways. The lay-leaders, teachers, administrators and families of this congregation have sacrificed all they have to build what we called a “fortress”. Inside the complex of Christ the King is very different than the vast majority of Haiti. The culture, moral-compass and spirit of the people is hopeful and pointed toward Christ.
Thank you to Lord of Life for the investment and commitment it made in these people. Even though many of you haven’t seen it first hand, please know God took your gifts and multiplied them. These people have never given up. What the Lord of Life community shared, Christ the King used very wisely and they are living out the Great Commission by teaching about Jesus and a promise of eternal joy.
