Adult Bible Study

Connecting people to God’s Word makes a world of difference at Lord of Life.

Through adult Bible study on Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:30 am, you can better understand the teachings of the Bible in addition to making new friends in a casual learning environment.

In most cases, three or four different Bible study classes (usually six weeks in length) are offered on Sunday mornings. A wide variety of topics is covered throughout the year and may include:

  • World Views
  • Marriage
  • Raising Children
  • Manhood
  • Womanhood

New Adult Bible Study Classes Begin Sunday, February 26th:

“A Survey of the Old Testament” - Led by Kyle Garrett - February 26th - April 1st - Reading and studying the Old Testament can be intimidating for Christians, but understanding our faith is incomplete without it! In this class we will explore the stories and themes of the Old Testament and see how it prophesies and prepares the way for Jesus Christ. This is a class for everyone who wants to better know the story of our faith, no matter how experienced in Bible study. Come join us!

"Red Letters: The Words of Jesus – Journey to the Cross" - Led by Jason Hughes - February 26th - April 1st - Even if you haven’t been able to join this engaging chronological study of the words of Jesus in previous sessions, now is a great time to jump in. Many of the Lord’s words and actions documented in the Gospels are contained within this critical time period. This study focuses on the specific words and direct intervention of Jesus as he makes his way to Jerusalem and the cross, completes his sacrifice, rises again to defeat sin and death for all of us, and provides his final instructions to us as His followers.

"The Gospel in Life" - Led by Paul Kirsch - February 26th - April 1st - The Gospel in Life study is subtitled, "Grace Changes Everything." It is a course on how to live the gospel out in all your life...first in your heart, then in your community, and then out into the world. Topics include, the City, the Heart, Community, Witness, Work, and Justice. A DVD by Timothy Keller will serve as the basis for the discussion.

“Worth Waiting For” - Led by Lisa Hellyer - Class runs through Sunday, March 4th - Messages about sex and sexuality are constantly bombarding all of us, but especially our teenagers. In this class, designed for 7th & 8th grade students and their parents, Lisa will open the lines of communication on important issues regarding what God’s Word has to say about the value of life, the value of marriage, and the value of living a life of purity.

"Think Orange" - Led by Tyler Tollefson - February 26th - March 4th - “What you give to your child or what you do for your child is not as important as what you leave in your child." What if the primary mission of the church and the family are designed to work together to show a generation who God is? We will spend these two weeks looking at the role of the church and the role of parents in passing on the love and character of Jesus to the next generation. This class will be the "behind the scenes" driving force for Children's Ministry at Lord of Life for the future.

New Member Class "Belong" - Led by Pastor Burt - March 11th - April 1st - This class is a requirement for membership. If you are interested in joining Lord of Life, this class will help you know more about our ministry and mission.

"Revolutionary Parenting" - Led by Tyler Tollefson - March 11th - May 6th - Leading researcher George Barna and the Barna Group has compiled years of research into discovering what it takes to raise a Spiritual Champion. This course is designed to help participants think step-by-step through a process to create a parenting plan that makes sense for their family. Not a perfect plan, but a plan to start with, put into practice and revise along the way. For more information, contact Tyler Tollefson at tyler [dot] lordlife [at] gmail [dot] com.
